At New Silk Road Network, we are proud to house many members who also operate their own assets. At-abraý (Turkmenline) is one of the prime examples. As one of the largest logistics companies in Turkmenistan, they are also a shipping company and operate their own vessel in the Caspian Sea. This allows them maximum flexibility in transporting their customer’s cargo with their own vessel. In addition, ship repair and vessel renewal services were also added to the portfolio last year.
The current government vessel in commission is the TURKMENISTAN (IMO 8891924). Built in 1992 for transportation of general cargo, TURKMENISTAN can carry a gross tonnage of 3086 MT or 3152 MT in summer. Recently, they have just completed the repair and renewal process of the vessel, and it is now active in the Caspian Sea between Alet Port, Azerbaijan and Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan.
Measuring 115.89 meters in length with a breadth extreme of 13 meters, it can carry between 100 - 120 TEUs at once. In cases where the cargo is ready at the ports, the vessel can make 2 to 3 trips a week. At-abraý (Turkmenline) is also planning to add another vessel to their fleet to increase the minimum capacity to 1000 TEUs per week.
Such an effort is part of At-abraý (Turkmenline)’s plan to increase the presence of Turkmen vessels in the Caspian Sea market, and consequently increase capacity and transit through Turkmenistan on the Middle Corridor.

As the Middle Corridor becomes the hot topic of the industry right now, many concerns have been raised with regards to the capacity of the route in comparison to the China-EU Express rail when it comes to connecting the Far East with Europe.
